Initiative

The purpose of the Conexsus Challenge is to map out, diagnose bottlenecks and choose organizations working in value commodity chains and which have potential to grow in scale.

Launched in May 2018 by Conexsus – Instituto Conexões Sustentáveis, in partnership with Pão de Açúcar, via Instituto GPA, the initiative includes a total of three phases covering the map-out process, workshops and regional visits and a business development cycle.

The community businesses involved also have the chance to further partnerships and marketing opportunities with companies and organizations focused on agroecology and Brazilian social-biodiversity products. They will also have access to capital to invest and operationalize the organizations.

Over one thousand community businesses were mapped out, of which 70 were chosen to participate in a development cycle, including business modeling workshops and activities on market and credit access solutions. Twenty of such 70 businesses will also be part of a six-month incubation program, including face-to-face training meets, mentoring and individual management advisory services.
